Currently working in National Publishing at Script Media, Laura Blackburn is an Award-winning Graphic Designer based in South Yorkshire. With a philosophy to “keep things simple and effective,” Laura studied design at the University of Lincoln before graduating in 2009.
“Having had an interest in art and design from being young I continued my studies in design and technology to GCSE level. Further study resulted in a BTEC National Diploma and A-level grade in graphic design. During this time in college I realised I had the skills to pursue graphic design as a future career. Therefore, I studied graphic design at the University of Lincoln and graduated with Honours in 2009. Whilst at university, I had the chance to participate in live creative briefs. Through these projects I was successfully chosen to receive a YCN award.”
“After graduating from university, I started working freelance for local companies and charities including a job in retail. In addition, I was successful in achieving a permanent role in 2010 from a voluntary placement. I was delighted at the opportunity to get into the creative industry and I haven’t looked back since!”
“Working as a graphic designer for three years, my work has involved managing the design of adverts for glossy magazines, local newspapers, branding and promotional material for various companies.
When it comes to design, I like to keep things simple and effective. I have always had a passion for branding and have recently been featured on logo inspiration sites such as Logopond as well as being invited to a number of logo design communities.”
