We have some stunning artwork for you this morning with professional illustrator Alexis Marcou. Currently working for Atomic, Alexis has produced some fantastic creations over the years for various big-name clients.
“I was born in March 1984 in Greece. After finishing school in Larisa (Greece) I moved to the UK where I studied a BA in Photomedia Design & Communication at the College of Art and Design at the University of Plymouth. Since then I have been doing freelance work for a variety of clients. Some clients inlude Nike, Cisco and HP. For 2012 I hope to work on more new interesting project that will hopefully have positive feedback.
In terms of work commissions, lets start with Nike. Nike in Portland, Oregon approached me in 2010 and was commissioned to create 3 illustrations: a skull design for a t-shirt (below), a Just Do It design, and a swoosh logo. In 2011 I was commissioned again for 2 t-shirts: One was done for American football and the concept was to show a huddle of team of players. The other t-shirt was created for the team Galatasaray football fanwear. I was also commssioned by Nike Europe in Netherlands for a major project about global football.
In 2012, I was discovered by Julian Alexander (founder of Slang Inc), and was asked to design the new Nike House of Hoops footwear wall graphics while I was also designing another t-shirt design for Nike at Oregon. Currently I am designing a new t-shirt for them.
In 2011 I was commissioned to do a collaboration with artist Jaybo for Cisco Systems Inc.The design was created in-house at London. Hewlett Packard had approached me to design 3 illustrations for their new upcoming notebooks in 2012.
For all you budding designers, my only tip would be, to be very strict with the quality of your work and the clients will come.”
